Lonesome Traveler was Lee Hays theme song and the title of a biography by Doris Willens. It is also a musical narrative performed by Ira Perlman and Denise Romas.

American music as we know it would not be the same except for Lee Hays, Pete Seeger and Woody Guthrie. Their songs and actions affected the labor movement, the march to social justice, and the direction that music would thereafter take. Starting in 1940 their influence was felt on well known artists such as: Peter Paul and Mary, the Kingston Trio, Bruce Springsteen and others in the 60s

The songs they popularized are taught in our elementary schools and our history books.

Audiences find that they are singing along to many of the classic songs presented. Including: Union Maid, Talking Union Blues, Tzena, Tzena, Goodnight Irene, Lonesome Traveler, If I had a Hammer, When the Saints Go Marching In and more.
