Ira Perlman is a LI based Folk Singer and currently President of the Folk Music Society of Huntington.

His repertoire consists mostly of covers of roots music and singer/songwriter tunes of the "1960's folk era" he does sprinkle in the occasional original song.

Ira generally opens the open mike portion of FMSH's First Saturdays Series with a song and can be heard at several other open mics on Long Island.

Instrumentally, Ira uses vintage guitars when recording. These include both six and twelve string guitars.

In addition to solo performances Ira also performs with Denise Romas in the show Lonesome Traveler about Lee Hays of the Weavers, which was presented at the Hard Luck Café in February 2004 to a packed house.

The show is based on the book by Doris Willens and was also scripted by her. Lonesome Traveler is a musical narrative about the life of Lee Hays. It weaves his songs together with narrative on his life and travels with the Almanac Singers and the Weavers. The show has drawn large audiences at libraries across Long Island.

The new CD - Epitaph- is a 2009 release. The title song was written in 1967 and is seeing its first release in this CD.
